Club Notes | Round 12

Perfect conditions for football last weekend as we welcomed near neighbours Nunawading to our home. Needing two wins to judge the day a success, that was what we got. The Reserves just keep on winning and they had a big last quarter against a valiant Nunawading side. The goals were shared around but Mason and Laws kicked 10 and 8 respectively. This week we travel to take on Donvale and in the Reserves this will be the battle of first and second.

The Seniors took on a Nunawading side which had been showing signs of improvement over recent weeks and although never really challenged the winning margin wasn’t as large as we would have hoped. Carnelley kept his streak going against the Lions with 8 goals out of the 16 kicked. This week we take on Donvale who are on the same points as us and sit in second spot on the ladder. This game is a true “8 pointer” as the winner secures second spot outright and puts a break between them and their pursuers.

Let’s get out to Donvale and help the Zebras reverse the result of our last meeting against the Magpies.

Our Netballers continued their good form. The White team had a 32 to 23 win and the Green team won by the narrowest margin – 24 to 23. The Zebras were the odd one out going down 30 to 26 but stay top of the ladder along with Green whilst White hold down second spot. All sides have big games this week so good luck to all the Zebra ladies.

July is a huge month on the social calendar with the Sponsors lunch on July 15th and our Ladies Luncheon on July 22. Make sure to see a member of the committee to book your seat at these popular club functions.

Go Zebras!
