The club enjoyed it’s biggest celebration for some time last Saturday, with our 50th anniversary function. With almost 400 people in attendance we revealed the teams of each decade and Junior, Reserve and Senior teams of the last 50 years. Congratulations to all that made the teams and thanks to the selection and organising committee for the work which went into making the night a success.
So many people reconnecting with the club; having their contributions and hard work acknowledged has created a real buzz around the club. Feedback has been incredibly positive and hopefully that vibe stays with us for the rest of the season as we strive for the ultimate glory. Thanks also to the major sponsor of the evening, Talent Rise. Roger Antochi from Talent Rise was on hand to present the jumpers to our team of the 50 years.
The players ensured spirits would be high on the evening by securing both wins on Saturday afternoon away at Fairpark. The Reserves enjoyed an emphatic win, which was set up early in the game. The goals were shared around evenly to keep their streak going and with it top spot on the ladder. The Seniors got off to a good start and had the game set up nicely by half time before a big 3rd quarter effort quarter made sure of it. This sees us consolidate 4th spot but we are aiming higher.
Around the club, the Netballers enjoyed a very successful weekend with all three sides recording good wins. This sees the Zebras and the Green sides sitting on top of their respective ladders, whilst White are currently in second. As we head into the final few rounds of the Netball season the Zebra ladies are well positioned for finals.
This week we welcome our near neighbours Nunawading and their supporters to Fraser Place. Whilst Nunawading have struggled they have shown some goods signs of late. We will need to be switched on as we can’t afford a slip up to keep the momentum rolling in the back half of this season.
