The long trip to Silvan has upset plenty of teams but we were determined that we would have two good wins to set our season up as we went into the week off. The Reserves got off to a strong start but just couldn’t shake the Cats as inaccurate kicking kept them in touch. It finally clicked in the last quarter and a burst of goals saw us come away with an 8 goal win. The Reserves can enjoy the week off sitting undefeated on the top of the ladder.
The Seniors kicked 7 goals in the first quarter but let Silvan kick 5 in a shootout. A much better second half saw us with a handy lead at 3/4 time although inaccuracy cost us. We eased away to a comfortable 6 goal win with Tim Johnston having his best game for the club bagging 4 goals. We now sit second on the ladder with some time off to refresh and recharge.
Our Netballers had 2 wins and a loss. The Zebras side had a 3 point win and are on top of the ladder. The White side enjoyed a 5 point win and sit top of the ladder on percentage. Our Green team had a loss but stay top of the ladder. All three teams have the week off and can also set themselves for tilts at the finals.
Having enjoyed the bye, we now welcome the Whitehorse Pioneers and their supporters to “Fortress Zebra”. The Pioneers Reserve side sit just outside the finals and would be keen to knock our ladder leaders. In the Seniors this is the biggest game of the season with first versus second on the ladder and the chance to see how you measure up. Hopefully a big crowd and a great game await.
