Club Notes | Round 8

Back on our home deck and with a lot to play for we knew Surrey Park would be a stern test. The Reserves were playing the team in second whilst the Seniors needed a win to stay near the top of the table and keep the momentum rolling.

Blustery conditions meant that scoring was going to be difficult and the Reserves struggled on the board early. A dominant 3rd quarter meant we won by just over 4 goals but doesn’t really do justice to how the game was played as our bad kicking ensured we couldn’t shake Surrey Park. The Seniors had a slightly more difficult road to victory. We got off to a great start but in the second half eased off the gas and Surrey came back hard. They got within a goal before we steadied with a couple of late goals to get us over the line and into second spot on the ladder. The Netballers are showing the boys how it is done with two wins and a bye last week and all three sides sitting on top of their ladders – can’t do better than that.

Tonight is Ladies Night at the club. This event is getting more popular every year and 2017 looks like being huge. Time is running out to book your seat for the 50th year celebation on June 24th. This will be the biggest celebration sinced the '84 premiership and the chance to mingle with legends of the club.

This week we travel to Silvan to take on the Cats who have been playing some good footy but just haven’t been able to get over the line. We will need to be switched on from the start. Two good results today will mean we can enjoy a week off and make a run at the back half of the season.

Go Zebras!
